Depth Competition Safety by FCG
Safety in Freediving is the FIRST priority always. No matter if you dive for fun, during a training session or in a competition. While the freediving as a sport evolves and the athletes improve their performances and pusses to their limits the safety is getting more crucial than ever.. In a competition everybody from the organizer, the Judges, the medical team, The safety divers team etc.. work together to provide the best and safest conditions to the athletes.

This Course is specially structured to provide to the participants the best knowledge about the role of a depth competition safety diver. Knowledge came by years of experience in organizing AIDA and CMAS competitions following the latest standards and protocols of AIDA and CMAS.

Subjects to cover:

Introduction, AIDA Competitions, Depth Competitions setup

Roles and responsibilities of the safety team pool and depth

​Pathologies and complications in depth disciplines
-
Rescue procedures for pool and depth competitions
-
Code of conduct, Recommendations
-
Video analysis: real scenarios and student videos recorded during simulated practice

To enroll in the AIDA Depth Competition Safety course you need to meet the following prerequisites:

Be at least 18 years old

Have completed the AIDA Medical Form

Have completed the AIDA Liability Release Form
-
Hold an AIDA2 freediving certification or equivalent
-
Have previous AIDA competition experience (as athlete, judge or organizer).

Be willing to work in a team and have satisfactory communication skills

Fulfil the following physical requirements:
35-40m CWTB
30m dive + 30” surface recovery + 20m dive
20m dives with 3-5” notice, at fast pace (early turn simulation)

Course duration: 7 days

Theory sessions: 4-5

Open Water Sessions: 4-5

Pool / Confined Water Sessions: 2
Minimum requirements for certification

​Ability to perform solo rescues from -20m
Ability to perform team rescues from -25m with 30” standby
Ability to assist and rescue from -25m with BOs at random depths (es. surface, 10m, 25m, in random order) covering all team roles (Safety 1, Safety 2 and Safety 3), including extraction (hand-off to the medical team)
Ability to manage stress
Pass the theory exam (75% min. score)
